Lanesboro Dam Restoration In Progress

Post by brntrout »

FYI,

The restoration work on Lanesboro's Historic Dam has begun. The river is now being bypassed through the generating plant sluice.

I heard there are pictures of the work being done posted on Facebook

So if your thinking about fishing downstream of the Dam be prepared for dirty water during work days/hours!

Come on, you don't think restoring a "Historic Dam" is good use of our tax money? Maybe they could do a "wonderful MNTU stream project" to compliment the outstanding DAMN restoration job?

Totally agree. I don't understand the emotional connection people have to dams.

No kidding. When dams are being torn down all over the country, we are rebuilding a worthless one. Here's a great story on the subject

Simply put, people fish because it's fun

The town and the river would be so much better off without it. I was hoping i'd see that thing torn down in my lifetime but that's out of the question now.

Yo dumbasses I'm from Lanesboro and reason it's being restored is that it's the only thing keeping the river from destroying the lower half of the town

Welcome aboard. :)

Are you sure a dam is the only possible way to keep the town from being destroyed?

Well considering it's holding back a volume of water greater than what the banks can carry in the residential area the downtown would likely survive since it's a good 30 feet higher
