Re: Fish kill on Garvin?

I don't disagree with that premise; however, getting farmers to sell said land would be a tough sell. Does that land then become eased? Who has access to it and for what activities?

Re: Fish kill on Garvin?

Maybe its because the last time row crops prices went through the roof, many farmers went out and spent a lot money on new equipment, more tiling, and removed land use conservation measures so they could plant extra acres of row crops to cash in on the high crop prices at the time. Of course, crop ...

Re: 5 driftless rods?

9' Sage X in 3 and 4 weight. Winston Boron IIIX in 8 1/2' and 9' in 3 and 4. For bigger stuff I have a Sage One 9' 5 and 6 weight. I used to own some small 0-2 weight rods, but I dumped them online. They were fun little rods, but I never found I used them enough. I had a chance to fish a buddy's Sco...

There's a lot to digest in such a small article. Remind me again who the PCA works for?

If I were going for big brookies, I'd probably keep going past Nipigon to the Sutton.

Re: What type of Flyfisherman are you??

None of the above. Fly fishing is a lifestyle, IMO. One that I embrace. I love to try new flies, new gear, and the likes, even if I end up not liking it in the end. I don't Tenkara. I don't Czech nymph. I don't perdigon. I don't rough fish. If you do, I'm not judging. It's just not for me. I nymph r...

Re: Dry / dropper rigging

I use option a, and to be honest have not noticed any difference in hooking of fish on the dry. I'm a minimalist by nature, so whatever is fast and convenient, I'm all in. Tying the dropper to the shank seems to be easiest, IMO.

Re: Tricos:. Anyone seeing many yet?

I have seen them the last three days I was out (Friday-Sunday). It was plenty cool in the Driftless for August, but there were some definitely hatching and a few fish on top picking off spinnners. I did not fish a trico pattern as there were not trout really keying on them on the surface.

Re: Wading Boot Outsoles

I'm on my second pair of Orvis boots - this year their new hiking boot model with studs. Lightweight, relatively inexpensive in the big picture of wading boot options. I'm not a felt guy, so rubberized hiking soles are my preference.

Re: 2019 Deer Regulations Changes

I think the day of mandatory testing for all deer in order to get a possession tag is coming. I think the legislature didn't do enough to protect the wild herd and the hunters who buy tags and were never responsible for CWD in the first place (that's you Greg Davids and the rest of the GOP who prote...
