Re: Star Tribune report on stream rehab

If we are talking sustainability and improvements taking many lifetimes, I would argue that more is being bitten off than we can chew. Why not do shorter sections, spend more money (per foot) and do a better job? If that means only completing a couple hundred yards per project per year, so be it. T...

Re: Lanesboro Dam Work

TU is too busy licking Ecological Service's boots and begging LSOHC for grant money to continue to implement the high quality stream restoration they are known for (insert joke here). John Lenczewski has worn out his welcome. It's time for new leadership at the state level, one that actually underst...

Re: Lanesboro Dam Work

I hang out a fair share in Lanesboro, so I can attest that the locals support keeping the dam.

I do not happen to echo their sentiment.

Re: Star Tribune report on stream rehab

WGH -TU and Ecological Services have been guessing all along. Ian Chisholm of the DNR is on record saying that there has never been any long-term monitoring of the effectiveness or failure of the H.I. projects since 2009 that use WD/Rosgen.

NONE.

Re: Anyone get today? 5-11-19

I did well, but the weather wasn't as warm as I had hoped, so that shut down some potential bug activity. Water is clear everywhere I fished or drove through. A few anglers out, mainly bait guys. Caught a few on nymphs, a few on streamers, a few on a dry, a few on a dropper. The weather this week loo...

Re: Stream Conditions

There was a weather/rainfall link posted on this site last year that was pretty neat - zoom in capabilities and showed rainfall totals from anywhere from a day to the last three months. I don't have it bookmarked. Anyone have it or one that I am describing?

Re: Potential SE MN Trout Regulation Changes

I like the idea of a southern Driftless slot of 12-14" release. I'm not going to sugar coat it. I like artificials/no kill streams because I know the only people I'm going to run into are the people who are there to catch fish for enjoyment purposes, not set up shop on a big bend hole with a five ga...

Re: Beaver dams and brook trout

From a southern Driftless angle, I have seen quite a few beaver dams, houses, and general tree cutting from them quite a bit more the past couple of years. No fur market certainly aids in their population growth.

Re: Resolving the Current Trout Habitat Problem

Actually, I enjoy commentary from my peers. I just don't necessarily view TCTU as my peer at this point. When you talk about all of your members not wanting skyhooks, then our conversation has some large brush strokes. Interesting that your last rant was about the oldest 3000 feet of a project. I fi...
