Re: Current Stream Conditio 3--28

I fished four different streams, all of varying size and length yesterday. The small ones were crystal with super spooky fish. The larger ones were clearing quickly, even when we got rained on at noon. Not much for hatches today. A few midges was about it. The best fishing was early on before it see...

Re: Going to try some Social Distancing today

Bob, timing is everything right now. Friday before the "big shutdown," temps in the 50's, and no rain. Not surprised there was considerable traffic. I had a buddy fishing south of 90 and he commented on the same - lots of cars. The fishabe water convo: the maps are valuable to look at in general. I ...

Re: 3-21 Report

I fished yesterday from 11-2. Water was up a bit and chalky (wouldn't call it dirty). Fished streamers and killed it. Fish were aggressive and chasing. Downstream and across bringing the fly against the current worked wonders. I knew it would be windy, so I went with a new six weight I got this wint...

Re: Perfect Weather for Winter Angling

I was out early Sunday until noon. Midges really picked up around 10:00. I fooled a few on top with a midge adult but most of my trout were caught by way of nymphs. Water was clean and typically on the low side considering it is February. Drove by a few streams that still had remnants of significant...

Re: Dam removal

And just because something is old doesn't mean it's historical. What a waste of $4 million dollars. Could hire lots of summer help to brush and go after invasive/noxious weeds in the Driftless instead.

Re: Brushing Streams to Improve Access

I can name a few places that could use a brushing. The undergrowth and jungle conditions that deter others are not a deal breaker for me personally. The noxious weeds part, I'm in favor of. If it means that anglers have wide open access for a while (like a few summers ago when they thinned out Bide-...

I just don't have any confidence in the aforementioned groups that such a complete, top to bottom, project would be that good. Their track records aren't exactly glowing when it comes to restoration successes in the past ten years.
