Re: What is it about this year?

I've been out around 15 or so times since March, so I'll opine on what I've seen: low, clear water early on. Streamer fishing was good early on with the higher water and colder weather. Dirtier water as of late. I hit some good caddis at times, but I had a spectacular outing this past weekend with a...

Re: HATCHES

I fished Sunday PM south of 90. Water's in good shape. Two different sizes of yellow mayflies (could very well be Light Hendricksons), no March Browns, several sizes of tan caddis, and a few remnants of crane flies.

Re: 5/16-5/17 Rainfall

Further south and east from WW should be fine. I talked to a friend in LaCrosse yesterday. They got an inch that soaked right in. Saturday and Sunday look potentially wet.

Re: 5/11 and 5/12 Fishing Report

I would argue that based upon what I have seen the last week to ten days, there are a few streams that could use some flushing as their slime/algae growth is significant due to lack of water (and high concentrations of nitrates). We need some substantial rain, IMO. No dries yesterday, but sight fish...

Re: Cold Front Strategies

Time of day and water temperatures matter when you get hit with a cold front, too. It's frustrating for us all that the weather sucks right now, but you give it a go and see what happens. As someone who has fished the area for quite a while, don't assume that there will be no one around this weekend...

Yep. They weren't designed to jump out at you, that's for sure.

Re: Creek Access and Easements [SE MN]

I will say that if you do not know what an easement sign looks like, you may have difficulty in locating this deck of cards sized tan sign. They were originally tan signs with maroon lettering, but most of the lettering has faded by now, so now it looks very obscure. If you can read the basic map th...

Re: H.I. Promo Video

That project is a piece of s!#$. They lost me when Lenczewski made an appearance.

Go to the 9:00 mark and then you can hear that it is indeed, a flood control project, and not a habitat improvement project.

Re: Dr. Mike

He's actually getting hammered pretty significantly in lots of online areas. I think some of it is that there is an aura of "I told you so" about his message, which if you listen to his podcasts, is a prevalent theme. The love of the sound of one's voice. The other criticism is that he's offering ver...
