I've got a friend in Lexington, who is also a guide, and he regularly catches browns over 20".

Re: Skinny season

I went to a park last Friday and didn't have any luck until I put on a tungsten bead and got down really deep. The water was really fast and there were quite a few cars in the parking lot. Headed for Iowa Sunday.

Spent a lot of time with old friends and met a lot of new ones.Weather was tough and the rivers were high but heck, I spent a lot of ...

Last day of the season

Today I took my sister Barb for her first day of fly fishing. It was one heck of a day. She landed 1 rainbow and 7 browns and I couldn't even count how many were missed. Before it got too windy she was catching them on a hopper and later on a San Ron Worm. It was way more fun getting her on fish tha...

fishing report Oct 9

I went out today south of I90. The wind was problematic and I spent a fair amount of times in the weeds when I didn't calculate the wind correctly. Everything I caught was in shallow water in the sun. I caught everything on a small hopper. The bonus for the day was a Tiger Trout. Gorgeous. https://l...

I use a 12' tenkara rod with 12' of line and 3' of # 5 tippet. My favorite is a Tanuki Ninja.

Re: Sept 16 stream report

Yeah, I purposely went to a smaller stream not too far from it's headwaters. Forgot about C & R starting but I rarely keep fish anyways.

Sept 16 stream report

I went out today and fished south on I90 from 9:30 until about 12:15. By then I was sweating enough to call it a day. The stream I was fishing was very clear. I caught fish on a SRW, large( yellow) and small (green) hopper, Utah killer bug and an elk hair caddis. The fish went nuts over the caddis. ...

North Shore

Last week I spent 4 days backpacking on the Superior Hiking Trail with my wife and sister. I had never fished for brookies up there but brought along a tenkara rod in case we came across fishable water. Saturday evening we found some and both my sister and I caught fish. I had enough fun that I'm go...
