Re: 3/18 Fishing Report

I also went out north of I 90 Wed and fished a new stream(for me) with a friend. The water was slightly stained but not sure if that is the normal color or not. We fished from 10:30 until a little after 12:30. The fishing was very good. We didn't really keep a count but probably landed over 25. Most...

Re: March 13 report

The fish were in really good shape. Nothing for bugs, however I never try to match the hatch so I rarely even see bugs. Some beavers put in a dam which should be dynamite later on if I can find room to cast. This public access area is really overgrown and an incredible number of trees have gone down...

March 13 report

I went out today and fished a small stream from 12-1:30. The water was very slightly stained. I landed 2 Brookies and 8 Browns with the largest being 15 ½". The browns were all quite deep in pools that had fast water at the upper end. Very comfortable out. I was North of I 90. I forgot to take the t...

Re: Stream Conditions

Went out today with a friend and fished from 10:30 until about 1:45 PM North of I90. The water was gin clear and 44/45 degrees. We landed 12 with 9 of them 13"+. Everything was near the bottom in deeper but moving water. They were all in excellent shape. We were both using nymphs, size 16. We did se...

Eagles

The eagles are getting ready to head North. I just counted over 100 from my deck overlooking Lake Pepin.

Re: Perfect Weather for Winter Angling

I got out early Saturday to beat the melt. The wind and low sun made it tough in some places. I picked a stream where I thought the wind wouldn't be too bad. I was wrong. I did land 2 nice browns and a gorgeous brookie. The brookies this winter have been absolutely gorgeous. The water temps were aro...

Re: Tenkara vs. 7' small stream rod

I use a tenkara rod exclusively and fish Mn, Wisc and Iowa streams. There are a lot of good vendors. It kind of depends on how much you want to spend. A good place to start is Tenkara USA, Dragontail or Tenkara rod Company. If you wish PM me and I can get you more info by talking or we can meet some...
