Re: 8/6 & 8/8 Report

Yep, majority were baetis. The other random mayflies ran a bit larger to ~size 16, even 14. Saw some oddballs in the mix that you'd normally see in May or June and occasionally there were larger tan caddis in the mix but most of the caddis were those smaller grays. Fish weren't too selective on fly ...

8/6 & 8/8 Report

Fished Friday 8/6 late afternoon, N of I-90 until about sunset, and got out for a few hours this afternoon, S of I-90 from about 1-4pm. Fishing was excellent both days, but Friday evening's dry fly fishing was some of the best I've experienced in a long time. There weren't many bugs on top or consta...

2019 Deer Regulations Changes

Worth taking a look at the changes in deer hunting this season. APR cancelled in some zones, CWD expansion, 5-deer bag limit in an early anterless season that coincides with the youth hunting weekend during MEA weekend, increased buck limits, etc... https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/regulations/hunting/in...

Re: Naming stream names?

You're right, I have been fairly relaxed on this. Considering stream conditions (or updates/reports on H.I. projects) and the kind of year we've had, I don't really mind the mentions. Stream names should be avoided on fishing reports, in my opinion. Open to conversation on this though and everyone's...

Re: Stream Conditions

I took a drive this afternoon too. Upper reach of MBWW is un-fishable (or was at 2pm). MBWW was still out of its banks and SBWW was especially high and dirty. I'd heard through the grapevine that a road was washed out near Coolridge, which was blasted pretty good. So... the streams it feeds into are...

Re: Stream Conditions

Fished well south of I-90 for the last hour of daylight yesterday. Just enough stain to the water for some great nymphing and natural camo. Caught a couple dozen fish, mainly on a size 14 PT(ish) nymph. There were a few risers coming up to a few big but sparse caddis but didn't try the dry. Really n...

Finding Stillness in MN Boundary Waters - mining article

"“no industry creates more toxins in the United States than hard-rock mining. No large-scale copper mine has ever not had an adverse effect on the surrounding groundwater.” The U.S. Forest Service reported, in its study, “a review of water quality impacts from 14 operating U.S. copper sulfide mines ...

Re: Stream Conditions

Thanks Tom. I'm heading into HoCo for an appointment this afternoon and will check out a few streams around there as well... will try to fish one of my favorites if the storms hold off. Big ? on where they setup again today, but we're under a Flash Flood Watch. Again. USGS gauge at MBWW Quincy spike...

Doing some carpenter work. Anyone know how many inches in a cubit?
Adjusted for the new, reigning oligarch, the distance has been shortened from 18" to about 11"
