That's another story... I'd fish the pigeon river in Michigan too. The Big Two-Hearted River by Hemingway was based on that river. One of the great stories about the healing power of nature.

The mad river, the black, you must get a photo by a covered bridge on the battenkill. Don't know how far south you're going and I rarel...

I brought along an arctic creel, but left it in the car. Carrying around dead fish in a bag when it is 90 degrees never really appeals to me. If I caught a few by the car I would keep them, because I could get them on ice right away. Quit before we got back to the car! Too hot.

Fished a stream south of I90 with my son today started about seven a.m. Water was off color, but very fishable. My son caught fifteen very nice trout and I caught six fish, two over fifteen inches. The best part of the day was running into brntrout stream side. Great conversation in a great place. I...

Public meeting Mabel

Attended the public meeting for Catalpa farm's hog farrowing operation. The plan: 4,980 sows. 7 to 8.8 million gallons of manure produced a year. The facility would use in the range of 8 million gallons of ground water a year. The event was attended by, I would guess, three hundred people all but ten...

Brntrout. I was there Monday and saw the same thing, trout, I assumed, jumping up the dam. I found it very unusual. Never seen it there before at that dam. Have you? Is it common? I thought some looked like rainbows, is that possible? Fill me in. Why would they move upstream now?

June 11 report

Fished a stream south of I90 yesterday with another writer from Colorado . Water was slightly or perhaps I should say perfectly off color. Fishing was great. Caddis and dropper, seemed to be the ticket although I fished a black Tung head nymph with great success.

Speaking of hog operations, my dad always told me "never wrestle with a pig because you both get dirty and the pig likes it."

Bought a pair of Korkers wading shoes. Obviously these shoes were not sized to fit over neoprene waders because they were Waaaaaay too tight. They are perfect to wear with two pairs of socks however, Then I wear shorts. Then I just fish pastures. Many things seem to work when the pants are dry, but ...
