Re: Happy New Year & 2019 SE MN Trout Opener

Fished north of 90 this a.m. Small stream 11:00 a.m. 9 degrees. Caught fish in riffles, and in deeper water at end of runs. It was strikingly cold, but managed a couple hours fishing before retiring to a local tavern. Black Tung head nymph seemed to work well. Sounds like warmer weather down the roa...

Red Lake in a few days here. Don't anticipate much for hatches, just Canadian radio, and the festive holiday sound of rattle reels. Ho ho ho.

Most folks on this board, when they start to tie flies, and begin to get proficient at it, usually send me a couple dozen Adams parachutes size 18. PM me for an address, and thanks. I'll get back to you with some feedback. Hope this helps. WGH.

Fished with Mrs Howdy way. North of I 90 today, water was high but clear. Started about 12:30 and had fish rising at 1:00. I assumed, but didn't verify for sure, that fish were eating BWO. At any rate, I fished a BWO CDC emerger. They were eating it for sure. Less so on Mrs. Howdy's parachute, size ...

Perhaps due to fishing at different times of day, I felt like this season was less crowded than past seasons. Fished a great deal usually twice a week or more, and fished with some great people. Got a couple new bamboo rods for some specialized techniques, and wrote a good deal about fly fishing. Go...

Perfection loop is an excellent choice. There's a lefty loop, but I think it fails more frequently. Talked with Lefty about it one time and he used it because he felt it was easier and faster. You're only gonna tie it once. You should be in good shape.

The year will be devoted to developing a use plan for the township. That is no small task. I must say that in a time when civil discourse seems to have disappeared, I left the meeting optimistic about the nature of all of us. People were polite, they followed the rules for comments, and the comments...

Fished trico's the past couple days in Iowa. Decent numbers of bugs. Fish seemed to be on them. Private water and really public water. No people either. We were the only people in the camp grounds. Drinking coffee in the morning watched a coyote pee on the tire of my car, totally unaware I was there...
