Re: New Rod- Ideas?

As brntrout mentioned, its almost impossible to find a nice rod in this price range at that length. The only one I can think of is the Cabelas CZN series. Their 9'6" 3wt is a very nice rod. http://www.cabelas.com/product/fishing/fly-fishing/fly-fishing-rods|/pc/104793480/c/104721480/sc/105573780/cab...

I prefer a slower action rod, but everyone is different. I fish several glass rods that most would consider quite slow in action. The 8' 3wt Winston WT is hard to beat. One of my go to rods for around here. I have several 3 weights if you would want to meet up sometime to test cast them. You never k...

I had a few pods of fish keying on them a few weeks ago, but certainly not what I would call a GOOD hatch. Just enough bugs to get some risers. I'm not going to complain. Certainly more LH's than I have seen in the last few years. Hopefully the trend will continue.

Re: Tiger Trout

I was also thinking it might have been from the increased focus on brookies and restoration of brookie water. Either way it nice to see more of them being caught. Beautiful fish!

Thats a great fish. I was lucky enough to catch two in the same season, but haven't caught one since.

It seems like there are more tigers being caught over the last 2 seasons. Wonder if there is just more of them or if its just correlated to the increase in anglers.

Don't get me wrong, I would much rather catch walleye than sit at home. Not being very realistic to catch with a fly rod is a big part of it. Overall, I feel they don't fight all that hard. Granted I have caught walleye that put up a good fight, but I would prefer to target smallmouth or carp. If I'...

Re: Saturday

I was surprised to see several anglers out on Sat. as well. With the weather not looking great and the opener, I figured I would have the stream to myself. Fished south of 90 and had a few rising fish, but not many. Wind did't help things. One pod was definitely rising to a few llight hendricksons c...
