Re: Stream Conditions and Hatches

Fished south of 90 on Sat. Saw 3 Caddis species and just a few craneflies. Caddis were not in large numbers, but fish were looking for them. I'm guessing the grey Caddis almost are 80-90% finished on most SE streams by now. Fish were in excellent shape.

Re: Lead

I have been lead free on my fishing equipment for a while now. Once I started using tungsten beads/coneheads I never went back to lead wraps to seat the bead. Lead free works just fine and it's an easy step in the right direction imo. I don't fish weighted flies very often, so that also made it easi...

Re: Fishing?

I most likely won't fish again until after the first of the new year. Don't like all the crowds from the limited options and want to let the fish spawn without being bothered. I'm tying and organizing/cleaning gear until more options open up. Will do some grouse hunting after the deer gun season ends.

Re: Season’s End Report

It was a very weird year for me. The hatches were all messed up and a few streams I enjoy were pounded by the spring floods. Probably the smallest average size trout I've ever had in a season across all streams I fished. I hope this isn't a new trend with climate change, but have a bad feeling this ...

Re: Glass rods

Tom,

We definitely need to get together and fish/cast some rods next spring. Dusty is a stand up guy and makes some nice rods. Glad things worked out in the end.

Re: 5 driftless rods?

This is quite the loaded question. Kinda like asking someone what car they prefer. Really depends on your own personal preferences and what your trying to accomplish. I tend to fish shorter rods than most, but have a couple 11' nymphing rods. Really depends on my mood and stream I'm fishing on what ...

Re: What type of Flyfisherman are you??

I also don't think I have ever fit any of these catagories, but this was a fun read. I have always been a "match the hatch" kind of person because I find it interesting to see what they are keying in on eating. I've enjoyed learning about the different insects and the variations they can have from s...

Tricos:. Anyone seeing many yet?

Just curious if anyone is seeing many tricos yet? They have been sporatic up here so far, but haven't been to SE MN in almost a month. Hoping to head that way later this week.
