Re: Going to try some Social Distancing today

Well......fished south of 90. Didn’t get out as early as I had wanted do to virtual clinic visits that I hadn’t expected. First place 4 cars, second choice 3, third only had one. Water was fishable but borderline high and fast, I didn’t get a temp but did discover a leak in my waders and the water s...

Re: Going to try some Social Distancing today

Most streams are in great shape. The mid size streams are slightly stained and the largest are a little off color. Unless you insist on fishing only larger streams you should not have any problem finding fish-able water somewhere. Keep in mind that could change as rain is moving into our area start...

Re: Covid-19. What say yey?

You live local to the streams, so I say go for it. I’m up here in the Cities, and I’m not sure it’s a good idea for us to travel longer distances to small towns to go fishing. I think you are fine Warren, full tank of gas on the way down, stop for gas pay at the pump on the way home, Clorox wipes i...

Re: Won’t have to break rods down between streams.

I find a Subaru Outback great for transporting rods of 9' or less, not broken down. The reel seat ends sit nicely on the privacy pull-over cover, and the rod tips are supported below the rear view mirrors. No need to breakdown rods. I made this for about $25 a little cheaper than an Outback  P...

Won’t have to break rods down between streams.

I have been wanting something to put my rods on when traveling relatively short distance between streams. Most of the ones one line were too expensive for what you get. I found this DIY project on line. What do you all think ? A4A66321-4AB5-4B91-8362-C14605C47C70.jpeg 161F10C2-831E-41E3-9E4A-08B309E...

Re: Anyone get out fishing today?

The fish we caught were on the skinny side as well.
If anyone comes across a black/w yellow trim Dr Slick flybox on the Southfork give me a shout. I am sure it is halfway to the Mississippi by now.

Re: 2/1 Report (and a question)

I'll second the H&H fly lines. But if the rest of your line isn't in terrible shape, snip off the loop and any additional badly cracked tip and whip a new loop. I cut the end at sharp taper, double it over to firm a small loop, wrap the end of the loop with fly tying thread, and coat the wraps with...

2/1 Report (and a question)

Got on the water about 10 am south of 90. The SUN was actually shining. Tied on a scud, with a midge trailer and hooked a couple fish but was pretty slow.........then they started sipping emergers. Watched the water closely and some small #20 beatis started coming off. Caught fish from 11:30 to 1:30...
