Re: Won’t have to break rods down between streams.

I find a Subaru Outback great for transporting rods of 9' or less, not broken down. The reel seat ends sit nicely on the privacy pull-over cover, and the rod tips are supported below the rear view mirrors. No need to breakdown rods.

Re: Holiday Season

The same Bests Wishes to all - especially for a Healthy and Happy New Year, with willing trout and rains pretty much non-damaging.

Re: What's On Your Christmas List

Other than the obvious (good health end less politics) I am hoping for a few fly-tying books that may help me improve my techniques and/or speed. A nice bottle of Irish Mist to go with the fly tying, and best wishes to all!

Re: South-er Indian Trout Fishing

May I suggest you check out smallmouth fishing opportunities in the area? Has to be some (warm) waters nearby with feisty fish.

Re: Stream Conditions

My son and I fished two streams Saturday south of I-90. First is a rather large watershed - greyish water was running fairly hard and fast, but fish were to be found in areas downstream of riffles. Visibility less than 18". Nymphs were successful - but no hopper or dry-fly action. Lots of hornets ou...

What Cutthroat said... Add to that being occasionally baptized in certain rivers and creeks.

If you still miss your "shortie" after using the Hydrogen, consider the TFO 8' 4-weight. Priced right and not too fast an action. (You can never have too many rods.)

Re: MNTU Trout Run Project

In addition to its general failings, erosion control blanket gets a bad mark - an "F" - for rotting just enough to leave trip-up strands worse than any raspberry vines, and for having numerous 2" x 4" stub stakes that are guaranteed to send an angler flying forward trying to catch his/her balance.
