Re: Stream Conditions

My son and I fished two streams Saturday south of I-90. First is a rather large watershed - greyish water was running fairly hard and fast, but fish were to be found in areas downstream of riffles. Visibility less than 18". Nymphs were successful - but no hopper or dry-fly action. Lots of hornets ou...

What Cutthroat said... Add to that being occasionally baptized in certain rivers and creeks.

Re: WTB 8'6" or 9' 3 wt

If you still miss your "shortie" after using the Hydrogen, consider the TFO 8' 4-weight. Priced right and not too fast an action. (You can never have too many rods.)

Re: MNTU Trout Run Project

In addition to its general failings, erosion control blanket gets a bad mark - an "F" - for rotting just enough to leave trip-up strands worse than any raspberry vines, and for having numerous 2" x 4" stub stakes that are guaranteed to send an angler flying forward trying to catch his/her balance. (...

Re: Potential SE MN Trout Regulation Changes

Cutthroat, I like your points 1 and 3, but the "average" city-based family going camping in a state park and telling the kids it's okay to fish will have a problem with how to do catch-and-release (especially with bait and bobber), and most will not know the difference between a rainbow, a brown or ...

End of March fishing

Buddy and I fished two entirely different streams Friday. South of I90 on a stream that had HI work 20+ years ago, fair amount of flooding refuse and some moved riprap was noted, but no fish were even seen, much less caught. Gave up at noon and headed north of I90 to a stream with fairly recent HI w...

Re: Guide Services

Joshua, good guides in the Rochester, Lanesboro, and Preston areas - PM me for names. As to where, the Driftless in SW Wisconsin and SE Minnesota is priceless. Miesville Reserve can be challenging - and the season is not open yet in Dakota County. There will also be a great beginners class held in R...
