Re: Fishing Reports

I fished today and last Wednesday. Streams seem to be in great shape although a bit on the cold side -- still in the ,40s. I saw sporadic baetis hatching and fish rising, but not enough to tie on a dry fly. However, nymph fishing has been productive including Squirmies, Perdigons, peeking Caddis, He...

Re: Fishing Report

I fished on Wednesday. The medium / large streams seemed to be high and dirty, but we headed to a small stream which is known to clear fast. It was stained, but very fishable and fishing was good with various nymphs -- crane fly larva, rubber leg stone, and even baetis nymphs. There is still quite a...

Echo Carbon Euro Nymph Rod

Thought this review might be of interest to some of you. I own a couple of Echo rods --10' 2wt Echo Shadow II nymph rod and a 9' 5wt Carbon XL -- and really like both of them. This rod is a new model and if I didn't already have the Shadow II, I'd get one. I think it's about the lowest price you'll ...

Re: March 7th - Latest Spring Flooding Outlook

It's been warm enough the last few days that there has been some melting around town with the afternoon sun. Looking ahead a few days, I see highs in the low 40s and some lows around or above freezing. Seems like it's just a question of when the runoff is going to start and how long it lasts. Wonder...

Re: winter fishing

Fished with a buddy on Friday as well. This was before the weekend blizzard, but there was still a lot of snow on the ground which made hiking any distance a chore. However, streams were in excellent shape with almost no shelf ice. We fished a popular, medium size stream south of I-90 in the morning...

Re: SHORT - Fly Tying Video's

I noticed you emphasized SHORT. Overly long fly ting videos is one of my pet peeves. Those 10 or 15 min videos where the guy talks for several minutes before he even puts a hook in the vice are a turnoff for me. I actually prefer "Step By Step" descriptions with photos so I can quickly skim through ...

Re: Perfect Weather for Weekend Angling

Fished mid-day Sunday. Water was pretty clear -- definitely clearer than a couple weeks ago. While most of the snow is gone, there are patches on the banks that are very icy and slick from old, compressed snow and refreeze -- watch your step! We nymph fished with various larger attractor nymphs trai...

Re: Looking for opinion on Echo

I bought an Echo Shadow II 10' 2wt and really like it. This was after trying and failing several other 10' rods. It feels very light in hand and is not nearly as tip heavy as some of the other long rods. The tip loads very quickly, easily for making short tightline nymph casts. I put a regular DT2F ...
