Re: Photo's/Pictures

Years ago (before phones had good cameras) I attempted to take some fish pix. They always sucked so I stopped completely. I don't even carry my phone with me when I'm fishing anymore. Personally, I think the fish photo thing is completely played out. Way too many heroes out there who have to show th...

Re: Perfect Weather for Winter Angling

I got out yesterday as well. Was on the stream earlier than needed but wanted to make the most of my time before the mid afternoon melt shut things down (which it did). Started with streamers stripped slowly. Had some swipes and landed a couple. Once the sun peaked over the valley fishing really pic...

Re: Dam removal

Exactly. This is an even worse expenditure of taxpayer dollars than horsebleep HI. Marc Reisner's Cadillac Desert is a very informative book on water rights and dams. While it focuses on the West, and was written in the mid-80s, it is a quite telling and introspective look at how the dam building cr...

Re: Won’t have to break rods down between streams.

I seriously considered buying the manufactured versions of this rod holder. My concern was the dust that gets kicked up driving the gravel roads. It could be problematic for reels without fully sealed drags. Fly lines would also collect a lot of dust which I thought could lead to premature breakdown...

Re: Super Bowl

Fishing Sunday was my plan as well. Forecast has changed that. It’s looks like it’s only going to get a couple degrees below freezing Saturday night. With projected highs into the low 40s seems like a recipe for snow melt to bring on lock jaw. I’m going to smoke a brisket and wait for a better forec...

Re: 2020

Hope you had a good outing. I had some takers today on streamers. Snowmelt mid-afternoon shut things down for me at least.

Season’s End Report

Rain and blown rivers this summer/early fall put a damper on many of my planned outings. I also got a puppy, a male GSP, this spring and the times I have been out have been as much about getting him acclimated to fishing as they have about just catching fish. I took him out for the day north of 90 1...
