Doing some carpenter work. Anyone know how many inches in a cubit?
Adjusted for the new, reigning oligarch, the distance has been shortened from 18" to about 11"

Re: Stream Conditions

More heavy rain now, more tonight, chance of storms every day this week... maybe the big waters will be good for smallie fishing by the end of August. :-/

Re: Star Tribune report on stream rehab

This begs the question, "why do any habitat work at all"? There are many miles of stream where no habitat work has been done and there are more than enough trout providing natural reproduction and sustaining a reasonable amount of harvest. The streams in these sections also change from year to year...

Re: Stream Conditions

If I had the time, I could have stopped to nymph fish the stream I was next to this afternoon. Big rivers are a total mess of course, and even small water close to Chatfield was stupid-muddy, but there are some places to go already.

Re: Stream Conditions

I drove by a few access points on the WW system early this afternoon. Nothing was fish-able at all and nobody should go out this weekend. ;)

Re: Light Hendrickson Hatch (E. invaria & E. rotunda)

Definitely looking forward to some nicer weather soon. A few years ago around the same time as an expected LH hatch, I ran across a prolific hatch of "long-horned" caddis (not sure exactly what they're supposed to be called?). Crazy long antennae on them. A bit tricky catching considering how many f...

Re: Anyone get out today? 5-11-19

I took my new Echo Carbon XL 10'3wt rig out for a spin yesterday from about 1-5:30pm. Love it. Awesome fishing. Very little in the way of bug activity, but a wired-green wet fly and a flash green perdigon made for almost non-stop catching. Really like the longer rod for high stick nymphing. Sidenote...

Re: Stream reports?

I got out for a quick outing yesterday afternoon and caught a handful but catching was below average. Stream was clear and a bit cold due to the runoff, about 44-45 degrees through the afternoon. I did see a lot of people out fishing... most access points had cars parked
