Re: What type of Flyfisherman are you??

IMO, the article is meant to be humorous. The humor comes from exaggerating the little things most of us do. For example, I am far from an expert on bugs. But when a non-fly fisherman asks, “How’s fishin’?” and I answer with BWO and caddis are … They react like I am a true ‘Bug Nerd’ because they ha...

What type of Flyfisherman are you??

This is a recent article by a Montana fishing guide: http://www.explorebigsky.com/the-eddy-line-the-five-types-of-anglers-and-how-to-learn-from-them/30902 BTW, I have been all 5 types at various points in time, except perhaps the cool dude. If there was ever a time when I was a cool dude, no one (in...

Re: Feedlot expansion Carmona Twp.

The problem isn't this type of facility, its the need for it in the first place I agree, in general, but believe there is an important distinction with dairy production. The market is changing for dairy due to people choosing olive oil over butter, other low-fat options and soy “milk,” almond “milk...

Re: Naming stream names?

A report of good fishing on a NAMED stream will likely result in crowds of people showing up the next day. The result is a poor fishing experience for everyone. Therefore, the good report on a NAMED stream is self-defeating. A NAMED report of a muddy stream will have some effect on crowd behavior, b...

Re: Stream Conditions

Update on Trout Run: At noon today it spilled its banks. In front of dogpatch, the cow pasture is mostly covered. At the popular bridge, the pasture upstream is under water past the power poles. The bridge is also underwater. See Video:

Re: Stream Conditions

Looked at a popular stream this A.M. ... it's flowing at the top of the bank looking like Ovaltine.

Re: Fishing Report- June 11

I used permethrin extensively in the Peace Corps in Africa and it both kills and repells bugs. Bugs try to avoid, but once they land they die.

We were instructed to use rubber gloves and avoid contact with skin while it is wet. I don’t remember why.

Once dry, it’s ok to touch.

Re: Lanesboro Dam Work

My very basic understanding is that dams create standing water that warms in the sun. The result is the stream below the dam gets unnaturally warm, changing the natural ecosystem. Dams also hold back sediment which fills the lake making it shallow and it warms even faster. Large dams with large bodi...
