Re: Bill Allow Center Fire Rifles State Wide

I imagine the issues are safety vs increased harvest rates to combat CWD. Many use rifles for predator/coyote hunting in slug zones. I am not aware of any unsafe behavior or accidents resulting in harm to people. Some published safety guidelines for those new to rifles may be helpful. Otherwise, IMO...

Re: Nitrates in MN Wells

Would buying “organic” encourage more crop rotation and thus lower nitrate and Neonicotinoid use? Organic does not exclude improper manure practices, but does it reduce nitrates overall? If farmers and regulators won’t improve ag-practices, would a market demand for organic over non-organic make a d...

Fly fishing in Africa

The following link is a story about trout in Kenya. I spent some time in Kenya, but never wet a line. Plenty to see and do there. What I noticed most in person and in the following story is how much we have in common, even half way around the planet. Hope you have the same impression. https://apple....

Re: Polymet Mine Petition

Three quick points: First, the Reuter’s article (full disclosure I worked for Reuters) states shortages are due to lack of investment by mining co’s, not lack of ore. Read mines are limiting supply to raise profit. Nickel is one of the most abundant ores in the earth’s crust, finding easy, profitabl...

Re: Polymet Mine Petition

I think we should do better and protect our national and state parks. There are plenty of ore reserves in other places. Corporate greed has devised a scheme to destroy our last wild sanctuaries simply because they save a few pennies a ton on ore. I don’t mind paying a few extra cents on electronics ...

Re: What type of Flyfisherman are you??

IMO, the article is meant to be humorous. The humor comes from exaggerating the little things most of us do. For example, I am far from an expert on bugs. But when a non-fly fisherman asks, “How’s fishin’?” and I answer with BWO and caddis are … They react like I am a true ‘Bug Nerd’ because they ha...

What type of Flyfisherman are you??

This is a recent article by a Montana fishing guide: http://www.explorebigsky.com/the-eddy-line-the-five-types-of-anglers-and-how-to-learn-from-them/30902 BTW, I have been all 5 types at various points in time, except perhaps the cool dude. If there was ever a time when I was a cool dude, no one (in...

Re: Feedlot expansion Carmona Twp.

The problem isn't this type of facility, its the need for it in the first place I agree, in general, but believe there is an important distinction with dairy production. The market is changing for dairy due to people choosing olive oil over butter, other low-fat options and soy “milk,” almond “milk...

Re: Naming stream names?

A report of good fishing on a NAMED stream will likely result in crowds of people showing up the next day. The result is a poor fishing experience for everyone. Therefore, the good report on a NAMED stream is self-defeating. A NAMED report of a muddy stream will have some effect on crowd behavior, b...
