Stream Conditions

I found fishable water south of I90 on a smaller stream on Friday 6/21. Visibility was maybe a 12 inches or so, water was heavily stained but not muddy. I have not fished this stream for e few years and ended up fishing a section I had not fished before. Very high grass along the stream banks made c...

Re: Stream Conditions

I fished south of I90 yesterday. Found clean water on a medium sized stream. A few sporadic caddis but very little surface feeding. Did well Euro-nymphing. Fish were plentiful and healthy, only saw one other fisherman, weather was good. I even kept 4 trout for supper.

Re: Anyone get out today? 5-11-19

Randy, I started euro-nymphing with that leader but changed to making my own. I use very long leaders, the fly line seldom leaves the reel on a cast but sometimes when a bigger trout makes a run. Here's my rough formula - 16-20 feet 20lb chameleon Maxima + 5 feet 14lb hivis yellow Sufix + 2 ft sight...

Re: Potential SE MN Trout Regulation Changes

I'm a little late to the discussion but I would be in favor of leaving regs as is (A). C would be acceptable as well.

Re: Czech Nymphs

One other point worth mentioning is Euro-nymphs are typically tied on jig hooks so the point of the hook rides up or at least somewhat up and definitely not down. This results in less snag ups on the bottom. Scuds were mentioned above. I still tie my scuds on standard scud hooks but use a heavier ji...

I fished South of I90 yesterday and saw some tricos hatching and plenty caught in spider webs. No fish were rising and I didn't see any spinner falls. Fished from about 930-1245. Stream was a little low and perfectly clear. I've been using The Fly Formally Known as Prince - a prince nymph with holog...

Re: Anyone Been Fishing This Week

I fished on Tue, 7/17, north of I90. Fished a stretch of a popular stream for a little over 2 hours and caught a lot of 10-11" fish. Per the other thread I kept my limit. The fish were not overly skinny. Headed east to check out a stream a friend told me about. Had troubles finding it except at a br...
